| Why did you get involved in Frisbee? |
|
I've been throwing the frisbee since 1969. In college in the 70s, I played
Ultimate, and I often saw my teammates and various "hippies" playing
frisbee with their dogs on the campus lawns. I knew that someday I needed to
have a dog like that. Then, in the summer of

1996, Emily and I saw a canine-frisbee competition in Fort Collins. That clinched
it...I knew that I was going to get a border collie and start playing frisbee as soon as
possible. We got Scooby in July 1997, and within several months he had
become a pretty decent frisbee player. At that point, after 19 years, I
was now the "hippie" throwing to my dog on the lawns of Texas A&M University.
We received a SkyHoundz flyer in 2000...we saw the Colorado Springs
competition listed, we went, we enjoyed, and we've been coming to Colorado
Disc Dog meets ever since.

| What do you and your dog love most about Frisbee? |
|
The fact that two different species can get together and enjoy the same
activity so much. Playing together through frisbee definitely takes our
"relationship" to a different level...Scooby is so much more than just a
"pet dog." Plus, the nature of our team dynamic allows us each to cleverly
conceal our respective frisbee weakness...I'm a lousy catcher, and Scooby
is a terrible thrower!

| Other activities/sports: |
| Scooby runs with me each evening. He also accompanies me on all
backpacking trips and nearly every mountain climb.

|
| Favorite tricks or treats? |
|
With the command "SHAKE," Scooby actually shakes his body (as dogs do to
shake off water). His favorite treat is probably those pasta wheels that
we always cook too much of...

|
|
| Fun fact or story about your team? |
| Scooby has climbed 37 of Colorado's 54 mountains over 14,000 feet in elevation...many of these more than once. |
