Five states were represented in the Western Open Regional and it was
a joy to see everyone compete from the Colorado Disc Dog Novice
Division all the way up to the Freestyle Combined Division. Many
thanks to the City of Thornton and our sponsor "The Pet Community
Hospital" for their overwhelming support. Distributed amongst the
divisions were prize bags that included Skyhoundz Plaques, Ribbons
and four one year supply of Royal Canine Dog food, two I-pods, two
Digital Camera's, Heartworm Medicine and Canine beauty supplies.
Additional prize gifts were supplied by the CDD 2007 season sponsors.
The support given to us by the members was overwhelming and Darrel
and I thank Rick Brydum, Chris Sexton and the registration team for
executing what is definitely the best CDD season opener in history.
Then not to forget the after-party committee for planning the pizza
party/ BYOB at our home. The dogs had the run of the house and yard
and no shortage of handlers to throw one of the many toys. Darrel
and I were still entertaining guests into the wee hours of the
morning.
Then of course no high profile competition would be complete without
the expertise of a celebrity judge. Ed Jakubowski brought years of
experience and knowledge to this field and we were graced with his
presence. I hope that many of you had a chance to converse with
him. Then let us not forget the supporting judges who stepped up to
assist on either field when needed. To all that assisted your spirit
and willingness did not go un-noticed.
Sincerely,
Darrel and Marie Earle
Where the Fur Fly's.
p.s. sharing some of Marie's favorites – with out a doubt the pairs
freestyle, hearing how honored the novice division felt to be playing
on the main field surrounded by all the tents, the audience and the
PawFest Logo painted in the center. Brent's glasses falling off in
the beginning of his routine and all the Cat whistles Deb received
during her Freestyle routine. Then of course when my own dog BO
wandered onto the field looking for me, stopping time. Walking into
my own home and having multiple CDD members bring me a beer –
priceless.
