The next stop on the Colorado State Championship Series is coming up!
The dogs get a 2 week breather after the action in Englewood. On July 8th,
head for the hills, as the dogs will land in Carter Park, in Breckenridge!
The event begins at 9:30. Registration begins at 8:30. This event is also
a stop on the UFO World Cup series, so those Open division teams will be
looking for World Cup points. Because it is a UFO event, there are entry
fees for competitors - $10 per entry for Open, $7 for Intermediate, and $5
for Novice. We will also be offering a Rec division, and it is also $5.
Unless weather threatens to cut the event dramatically short, we will not
have any cuts - we will run everyone through 2 rounds. You all did a great
job on Saturday of keeping things moving, let's do that again in Breck!
At Breck each year we try to do some extra fun stuff. One of the most
popular is our Beginner Freestyle event. For those teams that have never
tried freestyle before, this is a great chance to step up, put on some
music and give it a shot. The Beginner Freestyle division is free to
enter. Thes scores are not added to any other, and do not effect Colorado
State Championship points. Teams in beginner Freestyle can be Novice or
Intermediate, you simply must meet the requirement that you have never
competed in Freestyle before.
Other fun stuff! Wally's Wonderful Tidbit Catch Championship is back!
That's right, we will put the flying discs down for a couple of minutes
and see who the best TREAT CATCHER is!! free to enter!
Also back for a second year, the "Mini" distance contest. It's a
long-distance throwing event, but the disc must be no wider than 4 inches!
Both Hero and Whamo make small discs. The club has Whamo minis for sale at
a $1 each. I would HIGHLY recommend practicing throwing with these BEFORE
you enter!! free to enter!
Laika's Birthday! Sunday the 9th is Laika's birthday! In honor of this
momentous occasion, We will have a fun contest: Best Party outfit! This is
for the DOGS people! So if you would like to participate, come up with a
great party outfit for your dog. During registration, we will have all the
participants parade up and down the field and finish in a line up, where
Laika will communicate her approval of the best Party-Dog! Special prize,
and of course, free to enter.
Lodging-
Since Breck is a little out of the way, it is kind of nice to have a
dog-friendly place to stay. Once again, the Breckenridge Wayside Inn is
happy to put us up! They are offering a 10% discount on rooms to all
frisbee dogs! Just mention that you are in town for the Colorado Disc
Dogs.
Here is some more info on the Wayside Inn:
http://www.breckenridgewaysideinn.com
They can be reached at 970-453-5540 or (800) 927-7669
There is a wedding party booked into the motel, but they still have plenty
of rooms available.
We have local sponsors stepping up to help out too: Carvers
Ski/Board/Sport, the Wayside Inn, Breck City Market and Deb's K-9 Kookies.
Of course our 2006 season sponsors will ahve prizes for us: Canidae dog
food, Merrick Pet Care, Kumpi Pet foods, Chipotle, and the Wright Life.
And finally, all entries will receive 2 discs, courtesy of the UFO
sponsors, Hero Disc USA and Discovering the World/Whamo.
