From the moisture of Ft. Collins to the heat of Englewood just one weekend later,
it shows you why we all love living here in the state of Colorado -- the weather
never stays the same for very long. And, oh yeah, we also have the best disc dog
club in the nation!!
That fact was shown again on Saturday, June 18 as EVERYONE pitched in to help make sure
the Englewood competition ran absolutely smoothly, despite some early technical glitches.
A special thanks goes out to everyone who helped by stepping up when needed -- field set-up,
computer stuff, fixing the CD player, running errands, announcing, judging, and tear down.
In the Novice Division, it was a very tight race with only 2.5 points separating the top
three. Also great to see was that two out of the top three were first-timers! Scotty
Nash & Lady finished in 3rd, Tim Wohlgenant & Milo took 2nd, and brining home top honors
was Bryan Williams & Angus!
Intermediate was an even closer finish -- with only 2 points separating the top four teams,
including a tie for third place. After running a one-round tie-breaker, Jay Smartz & Durango
took 3rd, Darrel Earle & Nana finished 2nd, and Jay Smartz did double-duty by taking 1st place
with Boomer.
The Open Division ended up the closest of any event I can remember! There was only a .5 point
difference between the top three finishers. Becky Mueller (and "Junior") were out there
putting on some FS moves that had I'm sure had more than one of us getting ready to call
911 in case she started labor. Matt DiAno & Maggie put on a clinic in the D/A round to
bolt into 2nd place over all. And Mark Brisse & Gabby had a near flawless FS round
securing another 1st place.
All the scores are posted here. In the cup standings, right now Mark and Gabby have a solid
hold of the title, but you can never tell what will happen at future competitions.
I look forward to seeing you all at the next competition on the circuit, which will be in
Breckenridge on Saturday, July 9th. Make sure to check the website often for more details.
Sheridan Community Park in on Oxford Ave., behind the high school, two blocks west of
Federal Blvd. This is the same park where we held last year's Englewood competition,
as well as the after-event BBQ for the CCC in August.
